Actaea racemosa

Relieving gynaecological disorders with Actaea racemosa

Actaea racemosa or black cohosh is a plant native to North America that blooms in July. The plant can reach a height of 2 meters and its dried roots are used in homeopathy. Actaea Racemosa is available in the trade under different forms, although it is most often found in the form of granules. This remedy is effective in treating many diseases, including gynecological disorders, trauma complications and behavioural disorders. Among other things, a substance found in Actaea racemosa, and of which the effects resemble those of oestrogen, explains its many virtues in gynecology.

Indications for use in gynaecology

Actaea racemosa was already used by Native Americans to facilitate childbirth and to alleviate the pathological problems linked to menstruation. The premenstrual syndromes, such as feelings of heaviness in the pelvic region and breast pain, can be treated with this drug. It can also be applied for disorders that occur during menstruation, especially in case of irregular or excessive blood flow.

This drug is also recommended at the onset of catamenial headaches, which occur during menstruation or menopause. Thanks to Actaea Racemosa, disorders that appear during the state of gestation may be reduced, just like the contractions present towards the end of pregnancy. Actaea Racemosa may also help the patient further prepare childbirth by regularly using this medication a few weeks before childbirth and during uterine contractions.

Indications for use in rheumatology

Actaea racemosa is a remedy that is recommended for many cases of trauma. Among other things, it works remarkably well on the sciatic nerves, especially those located on the body’s left side, and that run from the back towards the leg. Stiff neck and muscle tendinitis of the Achilles tendon can also be treated with this plant. Actaea racemosa reduces wear and tear caused by intense exercise and muscles will feel less painful. Finally, this plant can also be used in rheumatology, especially for treating pain resulting from rheumatisms that affect the back and the cervical vertebrae as well as neuralgia.

Behavioural Disorders

Apart from traumatology and gynaecology, Actaea racemosa is also used for treating behavioural disorders. This medication allows the patient to have a better sense of reality and helps him or her make decisions more easily. In addition, this homeopathic remedy is effective in the treatment of insomnia, claustrophobia and depression.

Pathology and homeopathy are two fields of scientific research that go hand in hand. As a matter of fact, homeopathic research on a disease is always accompanied by a pathological study of that disease. Pathology is the scientific field that studies diseases, while homeopathy is a gentle method for treating diseases. Homeopathic treatment follows the principles of similarity (Similia similibus curentur or "likes are cured by likes") and comprehensiveness. There is no universal treatment for a given disease; it must be adapted to each patient.
