Extrasystole

Treating extrasystole with homoeopathy

An extrasystole is a heartbeat disorder that can come in two forms: atrial or ventricular. This condition affects a large majority of the population. Its treatment consists of eradicating the source of the ailment by resorting to homoeopathy.

Extrasystole, a relatively common pathology

An extrasystole is a disorder that affects the heart rate: a contraction of one of the heart’s chambers – atrium or ventricle – takes place prematurely. These irregular contractions may affect the patient’s quality of life. In general, ventricular extrasystole is caused by ageing. A healthy lifestyle that proscribes the consumption of tobacco, coffee and alcohol can alleviate this pathology’s effects.

Symptoms of extrasystole

In most cases, the patient does not feel the extrasystole’s effects every day. However, when subjected to further analysis, the pulse appears irregular and lacking beats.  This pathology, which is usually trivial, is felt only in certain circumstances: during tantrums, sleep or after meals. Nonetheless, when it occurs, the patient has the sensation that his or her heart stops. Regular heart beat resumes after a big blow to the chest.

Homoeopathic treatment of extrasystole

The homoeopathic treatment of extrasystole depend on the source of the ailment. In case of palpitations due to coffee consumption, take Nux vomica 7 CH and Coffea 5 CH at bedtime. In case of palpitations resulting from physical movements and accompanied by headaches, take Spigelia 7 CH. When they are caused by frustration, take Ignata 7 CH. Palpitations that affect women entering menopause can be relieved by taking Berberis 9 CH. To deal with minor heart rate ailments, take a daily 5-granule intake of Digitalis purpurea 7 or 9 CH until the condition improves.

When should you consult a doctor?

It is highly recommended for a person to always resort to an ultrasound examination as soon as a cardiovascular abnormality is present. This exam can reveal the existence of heart disease. A medical consultation is mandatory when repeated extrasystoles occur, when the heart beats at a high rate or when the heartbeats are irregular. A quick consultation or hospitalization is required chest pain is felt or when shortness of breath occurs.

Pathology and homeopathy are two fields of scientific research that go hand in hand. As a matter of fact, homeopathic research on a disease is always accompanied by a pathological study of that disease. Pathology is the scientific field that studies diseases, while homeopathy is a gentle method for treating diseases. Homeopathic treatment follows the principles of similarity (Similia similibus curentur or "likes are cured by likes") and comprehensiveness. There is no universal treatment for a given disease; it must be adapted to each patient.
