Herpangina

Treating herpangina with homoeopathy

A viral disease caused by Coxsackie A virus, herpangina is a benign pathology with flu-like aspect that affects children. Although the disease is not serious, parents should still remain vigilant from the onset of the first symptoms.

Symptoms of herpangina

Herpangina usually begins with a sudden rise in body temperature that is almost immediately followed by a pronounced sore throat. Moreover, skin and mouth eruptions (that leave small wounds after bursting), an angina that is accompanied by digestive problems, a lack of appetite and vomiting are other symptoms of which the occurrence is more or less frequent.

Furthermore, it is also possible to notice a lack of energy, more or less marked irritability and muscle aches. In addition, seizures can be observed in infants.

Recommended homoeopathic treatments

To alleviate the cutaneous symptoms linked to herpangina, it is advisable to take 5 granules of Muriaticum acidum 30 CH per day. It should also be noted that Rhus Toxicodendron 9 CH can also be used to alleviate skin disorders such as itching and burning vesicles. Mercurius corrosivus is also a remedy that is very effective against stomatal disorders caused by herpangina. Thus, to treat gingivitis and to relieve dry throat and lips, take 5 granules of Mercurius corrosivus 9 CH every two hours. The intakes must be spaced out in case the patient’s condition improves. To alleviate inflammations of the mouth and tongue as well as toothaches, take 5 granules of Mercurius corrosivus 15 CH every 30 minutes. Depending on the patient’s improving state of health, the intakes will then need to be be gradually reduced.

When should you consult a doctor?

Do not hesitate to consult a doctor if the child suffers from the following symptoms: chest pain, ulcers in the mouth for more than 10 days, vomiting, headache and neck pain, increased heart rate and swollen glands in the neck.

Pathology and homeopathy are two fields of scientific research that go hand in hand. As a matter of fact, homeopathic research on a disease is always accompanied by a pathological study of that disease. Pathology is the scientific field that studies diseases, while homeopathy is a gentle method for treating diseases. Homeopathic treatment follows the principles of similarity (Similia similibus curentur or "likes are cured by likes") and comprehensiveness. There is no universal treatment for a given disease; it must be adapted to each patient.
