Ovarian cysts are follicles that are transformed into small fluid-filled sacs. They develop inside the ovary and are often asymptomatic. In most cases, the cysts appear and disappear spontaneously and within a short period of time.
Ovarian cysts develop alone or in groups and come in various sizes, sometimes even reaching that of a lemon. They are caused by hormonal imbalance characterized by high levels of oestrogen. The rise in oestrogen levels can result from several factors including prolonged stress, physical trauma or a diet that is too rich in dairy products. For menopausal women, the risk of seeing ovarian cysts develop into cancerous cysts is high.
To detect ovarian cysts, an ultrasound or a pelvic exam is required. The symptoms that accompany cysts are generally painful or burning sensations in the abdomen. Sometimes, tenderness to the touch increases on the abdomen’s left or right side. The pain may also occur during sexual intercourse or periods of ovulation. Sometimes the cysts can rupture into the pelvic cavity and cause severe pain as well as flow of fluid and blood.
For the treatment of cysts located in the right ovary, take 3 granules of Apis Mellifica 4 or 5 CH three times a day. For chronic ovarian cysts, opt for a long-term treatment consisting of 3 granules of Apis Mellifica 9 CH, to be taken 3 times a week or 3 granules of Apis Mellifica 15 CH or 30 CH, to be taken once a month. If the cysts are located in the left ovary, take 3 granules of Lachesis 4 or 5 CH three times a day. For a preventive treatment, opt for 3 granules of Lachesis 9 CH, to be taken 3 times a week, or 3 granules of Lachesis 15 or 30 CH, to be taken once a month. During treatment, it is advised not to consume certain products such as mint, coffee or chamomile that may decrease the effectiveness of the homoeopathic remedies.
Medical consultation with a specialist is required in case of ovarian cysts linked to pregnancy. The presence of frequent pain in the ovaries is also a warning sign.

Good to know: Homoeopathy can help effectively treat women who have ovarian cysts. It reduces their symptoms, while progressively eliminating them. Nonetheless, this treatment is not sufficient and a healthy lifestyle, including physical activity and sleep at regular hours, is also essential.
