Bovista gigantea

Treating gynaecological, dermatological and circulatory disorders with Bovista gigantea

One of the advantages of homeopathic remedies is their natural origin. In fact, they are made from plant, animal and mineral extracts. As for Bovista gigantea, it comes from the mushroom Calvatia gigantea or Giant puffball.

Overview of the remedy

Bovista gigantea is a homeopathic remedy made from a fungus called Calvatia gigantea or Bovista gigantea (hence the name of the product). It is a rare mushroom that especially grows in meadows and is widely used as a form of treatment, particularly in the form of granules. They are more effective when they are left to dissolve under the tongue. This remedy can be used alone or in combination with other homoeopathic remedies to treat numerous disorders.

Main indications of Bovista gigantea

Bovista gigantea is used in gynaecology to treat disorders linked to the menstrual syndrome. It is recommended in the treatment of inter-menstrual bleeding syndrome. Indeed, some women suffer from painful bleeding during their ovulation period. This symptom is especially found in patients who don’t use hormonal contraception. Bovista gigantea is also prescribed to alleviate the premenstrual syndrome. It relieves pain and regulates the weight gain that usually occurs at the beginning of menstruation. Finally, this remedy also helps to overcome certain problems such as dysfunctional uterine bleeding, increased bleeding after efforts and substantial nocturnal bleeding.

Bovista gigantea is used in dermatology to treat certain disorders. It is recommended to relieve itching and reduce herpes outbreaks. It is also effective for getting rid of warts and alleviating urticaria caused by strong emotions. In summer, when some women get acne because of cosmetic products, Bovista gigantea can be prescribed to reduce skin rashes and itching.

This homoeopathic remedy is also recommended to treat circulatory disorders such as acroparesthesia. This disorder is also known as carpal tunnel syndrome. It is characterized by tingling sensations and numbness in the joints and limbs. These symptoms are often accompanied by pain at night and early in the morning.

Recommended dosage

To relieve the intermenstrual syndrome, take 5 granules of Bovista gigantea 5 CH from the 10th to the 15th day of the menstrual cycle, while waiting to see a doctor. Alleviate the premenstrual syndrome by taking the some dose (5 granules) of Bovista gigantea 5 CH, during the first 5 days of the cycle. To treat dysfunctions such as menometrorrhagia and substantial nocturnal bleeding, take three granules of Bovista gigantea 4 CH until the symptoms disappear. If bleeding occurs at mid-cycle and menstruation is accompanied by diarrhoea, taking 5 capsules of Bovista gigantea 9 CH at the time of the disorder helps to cure functional metrorrhagia. In case of metrorrhagia accompanied by diarrhea, it is recommended to take 5 granules of Bovista gigantea 9 CH four times a day.

In dermatology, the use of Bovista gigantea must be prescribed by a homoeopath, especially when used to treat acne. In fact, the dilution and dosage are chosen according to many factors. For this reason, the treatment is different from one individual to another. Thus, low dilutions such as 4 CH and 5 CH are well-suited to acute affections while high dilutions, like 15 CH and 30 CH, are recommended for chronic diseases. Regarding general symptoms, average dilutions of 7 CH and 9 CH are the most appropriate. To treat hives, take 5 granules of Bovista gigantea 5 CH every 10 minutes, gradually spacing out the intakes according to the patient’s state of health. It is also recommended when there is swelling or itching that cannot be relieved by scratching.

To treat circulatory problems caused by the carpal tunnel syndrome, use Bovista Gigantea 5 CH, Arnica Montana 5 CH and Ruta graveolens 5 CH. The dosage is 3 capsules of each, to be taken before going to bed. It is recommended to increase the number of intakes if necessary. This treatment helps to increase joint flexibility and to relieve tingling sensations.

Pathology and homeopathy are two fields of scientific research that go hand in hand. As a matter of fact, homeopathic research on a disease is always accompanied by a pathological study of that disease. Pathology is the scientific field that studies diseases, while homeopathy is a gentle method for treating diseases. Homeopathic treatment follows the principles of similarity (Similia similibus curentur or "likes are cured by likes") and comprehensiveness. There is no universal treatment for a given disease; it must be adapted to each patient.
