Naphtalinum

Treating allergic rhinitis and macular degeneration with Naphtalinum

Naphtalinum is a homoeopathic remedy prepared from naphthalene, a hydrocarbon that is a product of tar and that comes in the form of white crystal strips. This organic compound is a very toxic composite that is also used to manufacture antiseptic products. Naphthalene is best known as the main component of traditional anti-moth products.

ENT indications

Naphtalinum is a homoeopathic remedy that is mainly recommended in case of ENT problems, allergies or coryzas. Therefore, it can be used to treat allergic rhinitis and provides a personalized treatment in case of hay fever. This condition occurs periodically and is characterized by nasal congestion and significant nasal discharge accompanied by severe itching. Apart from these symptoms that affect the ENT sphere (ears, nose and throat), redness and teary eyes can also manifest themselves. If the patient frequently sneezes and has a sore throat, Naphtalinum should alleviate most of these symptoms from the first days of treatment.

Indications in ophthalmology

Naphtalinum is a homoeopathic remedy that is also recommended in case of macular degeneration. This pathology, which alters the central vision, can result in unfortunate consequences affecting certain related faculties, such as reading or driving. Naphtalinum is also recommended in case of chorioretinitis, an inflammation of the choroid (the thin pigmented vascular coat of the eye) and of the retina. This condition is especially common in patients over 50 and is often linked to early cataract. In some cases, retinal detachments and corneal opacity problems occur, causing progressive visual impairment. The patient will then have the impression of having a black veil in front of his or her eyes.

ENT recommended dosage

To treat hay fever, it is recommended to take 3 granules of Napthalinum 9 CH, to be taken every morning, afternoon and evening. The treatment should reduce nasal and eye irritations caused by the cold. In this case, physicians recommend resorting to other homeopathic remedies specifically intended for this pathology, such as Sadabilla or pollen granules, in complement to Naphtalinum treatment. If colds are accompanied by sneezing fits, pain and a burning sensations in the eyes, choose a low dilution of Naphtalinum, more specifically 4 or 5 CH.

Recommended dosage in ophthalmology

In cases of retinal detachment or ocular conditions affecting this membrane, it is recommended to take 3 granules of Naphtalinum 5 CH, in the morning, afternoon and evening. The treatment should remedy visual disorders. However, it is advisable to consult an ophthalmologist to establish a precise diagnosis with certainty.

Pathology and homeopathy are two fields of scientific research that go hand in hand. As a matter of fact, homeopathic research on a disease is always accompanied by a pathological study of that disease. Pathology is the scientific field that studies diseases, while homeopathy is a gentle method for treating diseases. Homeopathic treatment follows the principles of similarity (Similia similibus curentur or "likes are cured by likes") and comprehensiveness. There is no universal treatment for a given disease; it must be adapted to each patient.
