The homoeopathic remedy Teucrium Marum comes from a perennial sub-shrub of the Labiatae family. The plant is easily recognizable by its fluffy leaves, hairy fruit and pink flowers. It contains a terpenic component that causes sexual arousal in cats, hence its common name of ‘Cat thyme’. Originally, it was used in powder form to treat nasal polyposis.
Teucrium Marum is used in homeopathy to cure many diseases. The plant from which it is extracted is of Mediterranean origin. Better known as cat thyme, it grows abundantly in Corsica. In addition, this plant is known for its exciting, sudorific and cholagogic effects. This homoeopathic remedy is prepared from the plant’s aerial flowery parts. Its usage depends on the severity of the disease being treated.
Teucrium Marum in ENT is used to treat nasal or sinus polyps with nasal obstruction. These symptoms may also be accompanied by frequent sneezing and stinging sensations at the base of the nose. There is a profuse nasal discharge, characterized by foul-smelling yellow or green secretions. The remedy can also be used to relieve nasal itching.
Teucrium Marum is also used to cure cases of sore throat accompanied by abundant mucus secretions. It is also said to cure headaches that affect the temples and forehead, and that are worsened when the patient bends over.
Finally, Teucrium Marum is used to cure some cases of conjunctivitis. Most of the time, the patient experiences burning sensations around the eyes, combined to vision disorders and even abundant tearing. Moreover, the patient’s eyelids become swollen and red.
Teucrium Marum is used in proctology to treat anal affections. It notably relieves cases of pruritus ani accompanied by local itching. Sometimes, these symptoms are followed by swarming in the anus after defecating. This homoeopathic remedy is also administered in case of anal itching accompanied by intestinal parasites. In this case, the stools may be accompanied by foul-smelling gas emissions.
To treat coryza accompanied by nasal obstruction in an infant, it is advisable to administer Teucrium Marum 5 CH. Nasal polyps and those affecting the vocal cords must be dealt with by taking a weekly dose of Teucrium Marum 9 CH. To stop hiccups, it is recommended to dilute 10 capsules of Teucrium Marum CH 5 in a little bit of water and to administer 1 tablespoon several times a day. However, it is necessary to stop treatment as soon as symptoms disappear. In addition, conjunctivitis may be treated by taking 3 granules of Teucrium Marum 5 CH three times a day until the symptoms disappear. Finally, regarding the preventive treatment of other chronic conditions like sore throats or headaches, the doctor will suggest taking Teucrium Marum in high dilution.
To relieve the pruritus ani accompanied by itching, take 3 granules of Teucrium Marum 5 CH three times a day until the symptoms disappear. In case of intestinal parasites and anal itching, 3 granules of Teucrium Marum 7 to 9 CH should also be taken 3 times a day.
